FINALLY...

I've been wanting to make my own laundry detergent for a while now, but I couldn't find washing soda in any store around me to save my life.  I broke down last week, after being reminded of how awesome this would be to my family, environment, and wallet, and ordered some on amazon.  It came in the mail today and I couldn't wait to get started!

The first thing I had to do was grate the my Fels-Naptha laundry bar.

This was the most time consuming part.  Next I added 1 cup each of borax and washing soda.  Mix all of your ingredients together and VOILA your own laundry detergent!  There is a recipe for liquid laundry detergent, but it's larger volume that you would need to store and it's much more involved.  This method is more simple which is what I prefer.  I was so anxious when I finished that I washed a load! It's still going so I will let you know how it worked out later!  Oh and I love the way the fels-naptha bar smells.
