YES TO DEODORANT, NO TO ANTIPERSPIRANTS

I was watching youtube videos last night and It's crazy how you can start out looking at videos on a certain topic and end up watching videos that are a completely different topic.  Anyway, I started out watching videos on how to lighten hair naturally and ended up watching videos on homemade body care products.  In the middle of this journey I came across instructional videos on how to get lighter underarms. Yes, lighter underarms!  You know, the kind of underarms you see celebs with.  Yeah, I want some of those.

Here's what I learned from those videos:

  1. Stop shaving! Wax or use a depilatory. The darkness could be your hairs and not blemishes.
  2. Thoroughly clean underarms.  That means just soap and your wash rag aren't cutting it.  A loofah would be helpful and apple cider vinegar. I also saw them mention using baking soda and lemon juice as well to both exfoliate and cleanse under there.
  3. Stop using antiperspirants! The metal in it isn't safe for our bodies and we are supposed to sweat to release the toxins from our bodies.  Find a natural deodorant for the odor, or use baking soda. As we all know baking soda naturally blocks odor.
  4. Speaking of odor, it is suggested that you watch what you eat because some foods cause more body odor to develop.  An example would be onions.
  5. If you insist on shaving, make sure you use a new blade about every 3 shaves.  This will prevent potential blemishing due to scarring from a dull blade.
  6. If you do have dark scars, rubbing a potato can help lighten the skin naturally.
I have started on my mission by discontinuing to shave under my arms and Avon just so happens to have a deodorant that is metal free and smells great for me to use.  I bought it for my daughter and tried it today.  I did sweat, which was to be expected (especially since I sit with my personal heater on all day) and I am not musty! WINNING! I also used some apple cider vinegar last night to thoroughly remove deodorant residue from my underarms.  Over time, I will also not have any issues with my white shirts turning yellow under the arms!  I hope this was helpful to someone because it sure is for me!
