Ahhh, it's summer time and family has begun coming from out of town to visit. I love it! I get to see people I haven't seen for years. The older people like to say "The last time I saw you, you were this big." Actually, I don't hear that anymore, but it's funny when they say it to my kids. Then my kids make the same faces I'm sure I made as a kid of confusion and discomfort. You know, you start to get hot and feel like everyone is staring at you waiting for your response and all you want to do is run out of the room. Gosh it feels good to no longer be in that predicament!
Anyway, this most recent sort of reunion brought about some cousins that I honestly didn't remember initially! Don't kill me guys, lol. And it was funny to me because my grandmother was so hyped about the situation. "So and so is coming and they were asking about you!" Can you imagine my embarrassment when you're told and this is so and so and you're like "Oh, nice to meet you." Then they say, "You don't remember me?" I wanted to run away! It's a damn shame I wouldn't recognize half of my family if I saw them in traffic. You know what, I blame my mother for that!
Moving on, my grandmother and aunt are hilarious! I love them so much and I look up to them. Their style, their sense of class, and their no bullsh*t attitudes are awesome! Those are some bad chicks and a man has to be on point to mess with one of them! I could not, however, handle them talking about relationships and sex. Absolutely not! Or the idea of them dating a younger man. I was asked what would I do if an extremely younger man was brought home by one of them, and I said I would make the guy very uncomfortable! People that date way beyond their age have an alternative motive, I don't care what anyone says! I know they were just joking, but sometimes my imagination goes too far and I get serious. Perhaps that's a default on my part.
I also love hanging out with the cousins my age and reminiscing. Apparently I was a mean little girl. I, of course, don't recall any of the stories about me beating people up, or having them run home screaming like little girls, but I find that idea to be hilarious! As a matter of fact, it wasn't just me, we were a tight bunch and weren't too warm to outsiders. I find that odd because I am definitely not that person today. Fight, yeah right, I don't want my face getting messed up. As a matter of fact, I don't see any reason to fight at all, unless it's about my kids! When I get together with my cousins I realize just how goofy we are! I love it! If we had a show, it would be very entertaining, at least to us.
Well I feel like we should have these get gatherings on a more regular basis. It brings me so much joy. I do wish that my family members would temporarily take over watching the kids like my in-law family does, but I guess we can't have it all.
That's great! I love family time and since I've moved to this side of the world I've seen more family than I have in years! I know I've come to appreciate it more as I've gotten older (and wiser) :-D Glad you've been able to experience it!

What? I was not a mean kid! I might have had a sarcastic tone, but mean, never that! lol
