This week has been a trying one for me. I am trying to find new housing for my family and I just keep getting brick walls. So I looked at a place last weekend. The people showing the apartment seemed pretty happy with me, as most do. When I met the actual owner however, she seemed a bit uneasy. It could have been because I had my mother and little brothers with me along with two of my children, but I thought she would have looked at how close knit of a family we are. Everywhere my little brothers went in the apartment, she would follow.  She also seemed to have a bit of a nervous twitch with her hands.  She even asked if my huge little brother was my child. What? Are you serious? I would have to have been like 12 when I had him if that was the case! Maybe she though I was lying. Anyway, she said she would call Monday ot Tuesday and let me know. Great. I was upfront and honest about what was on my credit and we discussed a move in amount which I had ready to go. Well, she never called, so on Thursday, I decided to give her a call to see what was going on. She had a attitude first of all. Then she's like, "Well, you know every address you've ever had is on your credit report." I'm like "Yes, and?" She says, "Well, we look at everything you know?" I'm like " Yes, and?" She's like "Well, it shows an eviction on your credit." I'm like "WHAT? I do not have an eviction! I have never been evicted from anywhere! What address did this eviction ocur at? I just looked at my credit report and there was no eviction." She's like " Well, I don't know." Me again, "What do you mean you don't know. I need to know what address this supposedely took place at so I can correct that asap!" She is like "Well, I don't know right now I will call you tomorrow." I'm like "Please do because I would know if I've been dragged into court for an eviction!" Needless to say, of course she doesn't call me the next day so I of course call her to follow up. Once again she has an atitude and says she hasn't been able to look, but says she will call back in about 10minutes to let me know. She does and gives me an address and a telephone number if I need to dispute that information. I go home and decide to pay for my credit report because I know that she is lying to me. And what do you know, NO EVICTIONS! I couldn't help myself, I had to call her to let her know how I felt. I wasn't mean or rude and didn't use profanity. I simply said, "You obviously didn't want me as a tenant for whatever reason, however, I don't appreciate being lied to about having an eviction. That was unneccessary. You could have just told me no. I hope you fiind the perfect tenant for your residence. That's all." I am just amazed at how malicious people can be. I damn near had an anxiety attack over that!  I'd hate to play the race card, but I wonder if that played a factor in her decision.  Anywho, it feels good to finally let this go and clear my heart of any ill feelings towards her. I just hate it when people say lies about me.

The end.

  2. I'm proud of you for taking a position and following through. It's important that we all revisit our value for personal integrity and be able to stand on it, as well as have the courage to remeind one another of it when we fall short.
A better place is available for you!

  4. I know this experience sucks, but it was much better for you to find out she was such an a$$ before moving in rather than dealing with her b.s. later. Some people are ridiculous and ignorant. You are SO much better than her! I am glad you gave her a piece of your mind! If I see any 2 bed's for rent I will take down the number and get it to you.

  5. I'm sorry you had to go through what you did, but it's good you found out up front. I would suggest, though, when you go looking for places, take the fewest people with you as possible. Remember that this is a business transaction between you and the landlord, so a person may not take you seriously if you bring folks with you. Just bein' real.
