MY VACATION....FINALLY

As some of you are aware, I recently went on sort of a family vacation.  I say sort of since I had two of my three children, no husband, but a mom, and one of my little brothers.  We drove down to Palm Springs for a week of sun and fun.

First on the menu potentially no sun. How could that be? Well apparently a few miles west of Palm Springs has a temperature that can be drastically different from Palm Springs. So my mom was a bit afraid that it might not be hot. Well, turns out it was hot alright! Cool we can check that off of our list of worries.

side note: as I'm typing this my baby and the dog seemed to have switched meals!

Ok so we get our room at this cute resort. Immediately the "kids" turn on the television and start bickering over what to watch. Solution: someone watch television in the bedroom. Oh wait, the remote is missing. Seriously?  Well thank goodness they respond fast to problems, we get the remote, they low key count how many people are in the room, and everyone is happy again.

Next stop, the pool. I'm thinking the baby is just going to splash and laugh and have a great time. I was wrong. He gave a solid 20-30 min and he was done. I pushed the rest of the time for him to stay in the water.  It was borderline torture on my part.  My daughter on the other hand had a ball trying not to wet her face.  My main goal was to become dark chocolate. Don't laugh at me!

As far as my tanning goes, the sun just burned too much to be laying still in it! I'm not built for tanning.  My daughter however, total opposite! She tans easily, it's not fair.

Anyway, we ended up attempting to get out a bit. First off, we tried to go to Applebee's for dinner one night. That was a total disaster!  As soon as Andy sat in that high chair, he started crying. So we ordered our drinks thinking he's just hungry and it wouldn't take long because the restaurant was pretty empty. We were wrong. His cry escalated into a scream and in our attempt to find the waitress, the manager found us first. We pretty much were being asked to leave politely which is what we wanted anyway, and the drinks were on the house LOL. So we tried to get Chipotle, but it was closed, and we were stuck with nasty McDonalds.

Back in the room, we loved relaxing on the patio at night. It was warm and the stars were out . The stars looked like an army out in full force ready to attack the dark night. It was a beautiful sight to see. Then what happens, the handle on the sliding door breaks. Just great! Fortunately for us, they respond quick and the problem is solved.

On our next attempt to get out, we went to this street fair they have. We were going with my Godmother and her friend. We found a parking spot first so we were waiting for her when we got a call. She was in an accident!  Whoa! Thank goodness no one was injured and we were able to continue on our outing. We even got our Chipotle! Yay!

My mom and I also decided to be grown and get cocktails by the pool one day.  It was fun just laughing and shooting the breeze with my mom. What was funny was that we both had one watered down drink and we both declined to admit that we got drunk! I felt a little dizzy while we were sitting there and had the nerve to walk around trying to keep it together!  I thought I could handle one drink, but I learned that me, the sun, and alcohol don't mix!

Back to the pool. On the last day, Sadie finally let go of her inhibitions and dunked her head in the water! Andy finally realized he could maneuver around the pool alone and tried to leave me in the dust. I wish they would have done these things earlier in the week so they could have experienced more freedom in the water, but I'm glad they know it now.  I taught myself how to swim and I think that is an important skill to have. I don't want my children to fear large bodies of water.

Well we had a great vacation overall with a few pitfalls. We ended the week shopping! Oh yeah and i did manage to get a tan. I'm no where near dark chocolate, more like a honey golden kind of color with a bit of a burn.

  1. Applebee's kicked you out?? WTF? As if it's so upscale they had to protect themselves and their guests from a screaming baby... I guess the eatin's not good in the neighborhood lol!

Anyhoo... sounds like you ended up having a nice vacation. I'm happy for you Pocket! Stay away from those pool-side mixed drinks, they can be deadly lmao!
